Capacity limits increasing for weddings in areas in grey zone as Ontario places another region in lockdown

“Effective March 15 for regions in the grey-lockdown zone, weddings, funerals, and religious services, rites or ceremonies will be permitted to allow for up to 15 per cent total occupancy indoors, or up to 50 people outdoors, the government said.”

Reopening of Church Parking Lot

Salam all
Peace and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I hope you are all doing well.
I would like to tell you that the church parking lot has been reopened and available for parking.
Please feel free to use it from now on.
The waterproofing project is almost done.
The Church is also seeking God’s help to complete replacement of the windows.
Your prayers and financial support for that project will be a blessing and encouragement.

1) Please contact Fr. Youssef or Mark Abdelsayed if you want to add your phone number to the Church phone tree. This way you can receive recorded messages from Abouna. You can also subscribe by sending an email to phonetree@stdemiana.ca with your name and phone number.

If there has been any changes to your personal information (e.g. address, phone number), please email your new information to mail@stdemiana.ca.

2) Reminder of St. Demiana’s feast next week. On Monday May 19, we will have the:

– Raising of Incense at 6:00 pm
– Sermon at 6:45 pm by H.G. Bishop Youssef
– Choir and Dinner at 8:00 pm

On Tuesday May 20th, we will pray the Divine Liturgy from 8 to 10:30 am with H.G. Bishop Youssef.
His Grace will also be ordaining any deacons.  If you want to be ordained as a deacon, please contact Fr. Youssef Andrwes.

3) All the churches in Canada are invited to participate in a competition to create a for Logo for upcoming visit from H.H. Pope Tawadrous II

The Pope will be coming to visit Canada this Fall.

The winning logo will be used to brand the Papal visit.

The deadline for submission is June 1, 2014.

4) The Church will hold a public yard sale on Saturday May 31. If you would like to donate any items, to be sold on behalf of the Church, please contact Phoebe Michael.

Announcements

June 08, 2014

1.  The convention for Graduates & University Youth will be held in July 4 to 6.  Registration details are at http://www.myocyc.ca/.  Deadline to register is June 22, 2014.

2.  A committee has been setup to install air conditioning for the Church building.  The goal is to have the installation completed ASAP, before September.  Contributions would be appreciated.  You can donate as usual in the Church or through PayPal on our website.

3.  The current board will remain in place until the Pope makes a decision during his upcoming visit in September 2014.

4.  Fr. Youssef is usually available Friday morning after the liturgy (which ends at 7:30am) until 11:30 am, if anyone would like to meet with him.  Also, Fr. Youssef is available in the Church on Saturday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm and 8:00 to 10:00 pm for confessions.  To arrange a meeting with Fr. Youssef outside of these times, please call him on his cell phone at 226-224-7160.  For urgent issues, please make sure to leave a voice message.

5.  Either a trip or a spiritual day will be arranged for Canada Day holiday on July 1, 2014.
